Eye and Vision Exams
HEALTHY EYES- exam
Annual eye exams are vital to maintaining your vision and overall health. In our continuing efforts to bring the most advanced technology available to our patients, 20/20 Vision Center is proud to announce OCT/ OPTOS as an important part of our Healthy Eyes-Exam which is a complete eye exam with additional components. OCT is very similar to an MRI or CT scan for the eye. This procedure uses spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) to produce cross-sectional images of the retinal layers — which is a sensitive area of the back of your eye – in a matter of seconds.
We now offer the Healthy Eyes- exam for those patients who have diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, rheumatoid arthritis, or who have a family history of macular degeneration or are over the age of 60. This will give a thorough assessment of the retina. When systemic disease is present in the body, it is imperative that we examine the back of the eye well as sometimes there are no warning signs for ocular conditions.
Many eye problems can develop without warning and progress without symptoms. With early screenings, we may be able to detect eye threatening conditions such as macular degeneration diabetes, hypertension or glaucoma where normally these conditions may go unnoticed.
What the Healthy Eyes-exam provides for our patients:
- Provides a permanent record for your electronic medical record which allows us to compare year-to-year changes.
- OCT reports will show no issues or detect early signs of disease.
- The opportunity for you to view the scans and discuss your Healthy Eyes-exam reports with your doctor during your exam.
The Healthy Eyes-exam is quick and easy and mostly comfortable for our patients as dilation is not necessary. It is recommended for all patients, but especially those with systemic health risk or family history of health conditions.
